STRUCTURED CABLING

Structured Cabling Stoneleigh Ltd

Structured cabling systems provide the fundamental building blocks for the connectivity of equipment and services.
At Stoneleigh we guarantee that we will work in a time efficient and accurate manner from survey to project completion, we will also assist with the ongoing support to ensure that connectivity and services are maintained. Working with cabling solutions such as CommScope, Excel, Connectix, Systimax and Uniprise, Stoneleigh are able to offer fully warranted solutions to meet both the performance and budget requirement of out clients.

Data Cabling

Fibre Optic Cabling

All the cabling systems Stoneleigh install are turnkey commercial building structured cabling systems as defined in EN50173 and/or ISO11801 utilising balanced copper and fibre optic transmission media installed an a building or between buildings in a campus environment. The physical installation is carried out where possible to meet the requirements of EN50174. Testing is carried out on all cables and fibres installed to EN50173 using the appropriate equipment.

Project Managers and Engineers are training and tested to design and install the cabling systems, their accreditations are constantly updated as are required to support the design and warranty from the manufacturer.

Fibre optic cabling can be provided through either multi-mode (OM3 and OM4) or single-mode (OS1 and OS2). The multi-mode fibres are used for short distance communications and are primarily used for audio/visual and data applications. Single-mode optical fibre on the other-hand are used over long distances and are capable of a higher bandwidth. At Stoneleigh we primarily use OM3 and OM4 and OS2 to provide you with the best results.

We also provide blown fibre installation, in which a fibre optic cable is placed by blowing compressed air through a ducting pipe. This method is a lot quicker than the standard laid cable system, therefore keeping costs down.

Cabinet Moves / Upgrades

Pre-manufacturing Services

Server Room

Our highly trained technicians are able to install or upgrade patch and server cabinets.

We also provide a refreshing cabinets service, this will include the relocation of patch panels, testing the re-patched devices to make sure that they are functioning correctly.

The provision of pre-manufacturing cable systems for under floor installations reduces installation time and cost.  Cables are measured, labeled, terminated and tested at both ends, the looms are either put onto drums or shrink wrapped prior to delivery to site.  Cables can be loomed or bundled dependent on the requirements of the manufacturer’s installation procedures. All cables are totally traceable as to their length, test results, floor box and patch panel details.

Once delivered to site the cables are installed and retested to guarantee the complete integrity of the installation.  On-site test results are compared with the original factory test results to ensure their traceability is maintained.

During the project Stoneleigh can provide full batch traceability from each cable loom and project managers can use the system to produce site installation sheets to track the following stages:

  • looms received on-site
  • looms installed
  • box end fitted
  • cabinet end installed
  • installation visually inspected
  • installation tested
  • witness tested by customer if appropriate

This technique represents a significant reduction in installation time and brings real benefits and cost savings to the customer. Pre-manufacturing requires the detailed analysis up front to determine cable lengths, outlet numbers, box numbers and cabinet layouts therefore it is only viable for structured cabling systems of over 500 outlets.  To date Stoneleigh have been involved with the installations ranging from host cable swap outs from CAT5 to CAT6 up to complete structured cabling systems in excess of 30,000 UTP connections.
